Latemar Mountain Race
After years of running on Mount Cornon, the race rises in altitude and it meets the beauty of the Dolomites, reaching then the Latemar group. We will have the honour of hosting the final stage of “La Sportiva Mountain Running Cup Circuit” and for this reason we have re-done our look with a more various route that could meet both the needs of top runners and the desire of amateurs to try their hands at mountain trails, with breathtaking views and challenging at the right point. THE ROUTE: The departure will be at an altitude of 2000 meters, at the arrival of the chair lift Latemar Pampeago. A first downhill stretch will lead to the crossroads that will raise the altitude progressively up to 2250 meters to the “Doss dei Branchi” and then touching, as usual, the cross placed on Mount Cornon at an altitude of 2180 meters. Here you will arrive halfway towards Monte Agnello (at 2350 meters, already reached in the previous editions of the Stava Mountain Race) with an undulating difference in height that will lead to the “Rifugio Passo Feudo”, starting point for the group of Latemar, a new spectacular theater of the race. The climb will leave the meadows behind to enter to the rocks of Latemar, passing in front of the “Rifugio Torre di Pisa” at an altitude of 2672 meters, not far from the rock column that reminds the name of the refuge. In front of you it will open the fabulous amphitheater of Latemar that will leave then crossing the “Forcella dei Camosci” (2560 meters). After a wonderful passage through the rocks, the descent begins, leading to the arrival station of the Oberholz chairlift in Obereggen, where the famous trail 22 starts, part of the Latemarium theme trail, a combination of art and fun. A gentle difference in height towards the Meierl Refuge first and then towards the starting area. From here just over a kilometer towards the arrival will be located at an altitude of 1750 meters. www.latemarun.com
