Cycling allows you to explore breathtaking places and reach incredible destinations". It’s the thrill of effort and conquest that every cyclist experiences along the way.
You never forget your first race of the season, especially when competitors and cycling enthusiasts challenge each other through the spectacular Dolomite valleys in spring. On Sunday, 25 May, the 17th edition of the Marcialonga Cycling Craft will take off, welcoming around 1,500 athletes from about fifteen countries. This road cycling version of the famous cross-country skiing competition offers two routes, which riders can even choose during the race: long distance with 135 km and 3,900 m of elevation gain, medium distance with 80 km and 2,488 m of elevation gain. Whichever route you take, the challenge is guaranteed!
The course winds through the legendary Marcialonga valleys of January - Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa - with a spectacular passage through South Tyrol and Veneto, reaching the province of Belluno. At 8 a.m., from the square "SS. Filippo e Giacomo" in the town centre, cyclists will set off from Predazzo, the beating heart of the event, where the start, finish, and Expo Village are located. The route includes some of the most spectacular and demanding climbs in the Dolomites, tackling these famous mountain passes: Costalunga (maximum gradient 9.9%), Pampeago (maximum gradient 14.5%), San Pellegrino (maximum gradient 14%) and Valles (maximum gradient 16%). Among the participants, you’ll find elite athletes from Nordic skiing and running, already well-known competitors in the Marcialonga and Marcialonga Running races.
The Marcialonga Cycling Craft weekend isn’t just for elite riders. On Saturday, 24 May, it’s the turn of young cyclists with Minicycling, a fun obstacle course race through the streets of Predazzo, designed to entertain the next generation of riders.
After the legendary cross-country skiing race in January, the Marcialonga Cycling Craft is the second major event of the year for the Marcialonga brand. Once again, it stands out as one of the most eagerly awaited races, part of these prestigious cycling circuits: Alè Challenge, Nalini Road Series and Cycling Italia.
