BREATHE IN THE FRESH FROSTY AIR IN TRENTINO

Walking or snowshoeing are the only activities which provide you complete freedom to roam through the beautiful winter landscapes of Trentino. In each valley and locality, mountain guides offer a weekly hiking calendar that includes evening or moonlight outings, with more adventurous experiences on offer. Other daytime and evening activities are also offered directly through the three Nature Parks.

Snowshoeing routes

You can reach the remote Val Cercena from Bagni di Rabbi by walking along the path through the forests of the Stelvio National Park. Winding roads take you up and around the alpine pasture, out of the forest, all the way to the Malga Monte Sole alpine hut where you can spend the night amongst the sleeping mountains.

In Val di Fiemme, in the area of Castelir – Bellamonte, you can follow the nature trail that leads from the resort of La Morea to Malga Bocche. The path is 4.5km long and is mostly flat, making it ideal for snowshoes, Nordic walking, or cross-country skiing. Towards the end of the path, the vegetation gives way to spectacular views of the Pale di San Martino and the Catena del Lagorai.

The view of the Pale di San Martino looking out over the landscape of the Malga Venegia is alone worth a trip to Val Venegia. Continuing across the open pastures, you can ascend to Baita Segantini and, after a quick break, complete the route via Malga Juribello before returning to the start at Pian Casoni.

Walks in the snow

From Passo San Pellegrino to Fuciade - Val di Fassa

Shortly after the San Pellegrino Pass, at 1,919 m, take a left turn and find the car park near the Hotel Miralago. An easy, mostly flat road leads from here to the Fuciade basin, a spectacular limestone amphitheatre surrounded by majestic peaks. The route ends at the Fuciade hut restaurant (1,972 m). Return along the same path to find your way home. For those who would prefer a slightly different mode of travel, the Hut is also accessible via snowmobile, snowcat and horse-drawn sleigh.

Sentiero Respiro degli Alberi - Alpe Cimbra

This route invites travellers to explore the stretch of the Lavarone plateau that overlooks the deep valley of the Centa and the Alta Valsugana from a new perspective. The trail runs entirely along a forest road and coincides with the initial section of the Tomazol Tour. From the village of Lanzino, follow the path until you come to a well-trodden dirt road that runs around the western side of Dos del Monco and enters the Tomazol forest area. The route leads to the Belvedere, a vantage point overlooking the Centa valley and Alta Valsugana.

Tour of Lake Andalo - Paganella Plateau

A relaxing walk along a well-walked road that runs along the paved path of the Andalo Lake Tour; the starting point is at the riding stables in the sports park (Andalo Life Park), where you take the forest road and continue through a beautiful fir forest for about 4 km. The arrival point is the "Tana dell'Ermellino", a typical hut in the forest where you can stop for a snack.

A Malga Ritorto - Madonna di Campiglio

Another option for a pleasant walk on a snowy, well-trodden road suitable for everyone through coniferous forests to pastures and the Malga Ritorto alpine hut. The incredibly scenic location of the alpine hut makes it an exceptional vantage point for admiring the Brenta Dolomite range, especially at sunset when the dolomite spires are painted red. From Madonna di Campiglio south, take the Colarin-Patascoss cable car up to Patascoss. From the top station of the gondola lift, visitors will find the road leading to Malga Ritorto. Continue walking for about 2 km until you come to the large clearing of the Malga, which is an excellent place for refreshments. You can either return from the same route or follow the signs leading directly into the village.
