Albe in Malga - Malga Caret
Waking up bright and early when the sun is yet to rise. Meet the owners of an authentic mountain dairy, listen to their stories and go with them to milk the cows. Enjoy the fresh milk’s flavor, attend to the traditional cheese making and, why not, taste the curd! Let’s discover how do they make butter from cream. Go up to the pasture and learn how to distinguish the wild grasses’ spouts. Start your day with cows and animals on the mountain dairy.
5.30 am: meeting at the Bar Eureka parking, Carisolo; departure at the Malga Caret park
The sky is clearing, the dawn is arising. We are ready to start our farmer's day in the wonderful Val Genova. We start walking to reach Malga Caret, one of the most characteristic ones of the valley, where Laura and Enrico are waiting for us with goats, cows and their interesting family story.
5.50 am: we reach the mountain hut and start working
We meet Enrico and Laura, two young people who turned their passion for animals into their job. They've decided to become farmers; they have goats and cows that need to be milked every day to make delicious cheeses. After meeting them, it's time for us to work!
6.00 am: it's milking time!
There are 130 goats that form their flock! They are active and curious, and Laura and Enrico teach us how to get closer to them. Then there are the cows with red and brownish shiny fur , who are used to be milked and easily get closer to the farmers who start milking them with expert and quick actions.
It'll soon be our turn! Will we be able to do the same?
7.00 am: breakfast!
It's also time for us to have breakfast! After taking care of goats and cows, we move to Stella Alpina refuge for breakfast! It's the most inviting moment of the day! On the refuge's terrace there are two tables with everything you can desire: fragrant bread, cakes , cold cuts of all sorts and overall the fresh dairies from Enrico and Laura.
7.45 am: back to work!
After breakfast we get back to the mountain hut to see how to process the milk. After milking and collecting it, it's time to turn it into the products that we've just tasted! With Enrico's and Laura's help everything seems so much easier!
8.30 am: let's discover the waterfalls!
The farmers' day, which started before dawn, is now done! But there's the whole day to discover the wonderful Val Genova and its waters: accompanied by the Park guide we will walk along the "waterfalls path" reaching the ones of Pedruc. We will then go on to Mataròt toward Bedole refuge or get back on our way to admire the Lares and Nardis waterfalls... you just need to choose!

From the meeting point, take the Val Genova street and follow it for approximately 13 km till Malga Caret.
