Things to do this summer in the Parco Naturale di Paneveggio
From orienteering to creative workshops and mindful breathing
SUMMER - Every spring, the Parco Naturale di Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino (nature park) wakes up from its winter slumber, along with all of its flora and fauna. You can take part in all sorts of activities there in the summer, including orienteering, creative workshops and mindful breathing sessions.
Everything from mountain faces and raging torrents to Alpine pastures and peaceful lakes can be found in this varied natural environment, which stretches from Paneveggio Forest in the North to the Pale di San Martino mountain range in the South-East.
The park is renowned for its ungulates, such as roe and red deer, chamois and Alpine ibex, but it also has a healthy population of western capercaillies, black grouse, ptarmigans, hazel grouse, Eurasian eagle-owls and a few golden eagles.
The whole park is just waiting to be explored and numerous activities are organized there in the summer.
If you've never used a map, you can’t claim to be a real explorer. You can put that right at the Orienteering Park in Val Canali, which is one of the most iconic valleys in Trentino. Get a free map from the Villa Welsperg Visitor Centre and give orienteering a try. It’s a highly engaging activity for people of all ages, especially children and teenagers.
Creative exercise in the Parco Naturale di Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino
If you want to work on your creative skills, try the workshop walks organized by Laura Moro on the flat Muse Fedaie route in Val Canali. Laura is a dancer, choreographer and dance movement psychotherapist who will be happy to help you to improve the fluidity and coordination of your movements.
Laura Moro also organizes “mindful breathing” sessions on the Cesurette meadow in Val Canali, which can give fresh focus to your body and mind. The sessions can help you to prepare for a hiking trip or simply find a new way to relax and feel at one with nature.
In the park under the stars… or at dawn
Exploring the park in the middle of the night or at the first light of dawn is a unique experience. See what it has to offer in the company of an astrophysicist or an amateur astronomer.
Alternatively, listen to the natural world waking at dawn as you go through the majestic Paneveggio Forest to the Lakes of Colbricon. As well as hearing the birds singing, you might even be lucky enough to come across an early-rising red deer.
