Sugarpie & The Candymen started with the meeting of five musicians from Piacenza and Cremona who combine their mutual love of swing, gipsy jazz, blues, soul, pop and vocal harmonies, to give life to a band with colours and extraordinarily expressive joy.
Right away, the group launched into a very intense programme of live performances, with hundreds of concerts in the main jazz clubs in Italy and Europe. Their musical kaleidoscope features Led Zeppelin, Django Reinhardt, Beatles, Bessie Smith, Van Halen, Benny Goodman, Guns & Roses, Ray Charles, Queen, Peggy Lee, and many others, including original songs, in Italian and in English.
While touring the band released three albums, for Irma Records, the first, Sugarpie and the Candymen in 2009, the second, Swing'n'Roll in 2011, and the third, Waiting for the One in 2014. In July 2015 the band was invited to Umbria Jazz and performed in 20 concerts on the stage of the Giardini Carducci in Perugia. In October 2017 Cotton Candy Club was released, whose single "Così splendida" saw the creation of a new music video. In December 2017 Arbore Plus was released; a triple retrospective record by Renzo Arbore published by Sony Music, in which Sugarpie and the Candymen accompany him in the only two unpublished works: "Exactly as you" (video) and "Mamma mi piace il viro".
