The cycling path crosses the Fiemme and Fassa valleys, following the same route as the Marcialonga.

This is the kingdom of snow which, in summer, makes way for green meadows and Dolomite rocks. The backdrop is provided by the majestic Latemar and Catinaccio Dolomites. The cycling path of the Fiemme and Fassa valleys winds over a distance of 48 Km among the woods and dense forests of fir and beech. The route mainly follows the track of the Marcialonga and the route of the ancient Ora - Predazzo railway, which is brought back to life every year with the event called “La vecia Ferovia”, an important MTB competition.

Turn-by-turn directions

The track begins in Molina di Fiemme and, for a few kilometres, you ride through the woods until you reach Cascata, where you can’t miss the opportunity to admire the waterfall, which drops into the lake below from a height of more than 25 metres.

The road leading to Cavalese is also the extremely tough final stretch of the Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa. After reaching Masi di Cavalese, you continue in the direction of Predazzo, to Lago di Tesero, where you cross the Centro di Fondo [cross-country skiing centre], which hosted the Nordic skiing world championships in 1991, 2003, and 2013, and which is also equipped with services for bicycles. The trail then winds its way through flowery meadows and farmsteads, making its way to Predazzo, with its ski jumping stadium.

Here, you will also find the first Bicigrill. If you wish, from here you can take another, more challenging, route which leads to the forests of the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Nature Park, the undisputed kingdom of deer. In the protected area, you can admire the famous resonant Norway spruce, the wood of which is used to make the body of musical instruments.

You then enter the Val di Fassa, passing Moena with the new Bicigrill, and continuing towards Soraga, Vigo di Fassa, Pozza di Fassa, Mazzin, all the way to Fontanazzo, where the cycling lane ends before you reach Campitello di Fassa, in a breathtaking scenario at the feet of the Dolomites.

If you wish to continue, a dirt track leads to Canazei. Furthermore, there is a recently completed section that starts at Passo San Lugano, on the border with the province of Bolzano, and ends in Castello di Fiemme, travelling through meadows and woods. Some parts of this section travel up a significant incline.

Public transport

There is a bicycle-friendly bus service connecting Molina to Canazei, so that you can avoid the steep climb. You can find more information by opening this page
