"L Malghier" - How do they make cheese?
Visit to the dairy "Caseificio Sociale Mèlga de Fascia" in Pera, organised by the Ladin Museum, to learn about the economic history of the valley centred on sheep farming
Programme: at the discovery of the section of the Ladin Museum dedicated to the cheese making, hosted by the Val di Fassa cheese factory in Pera. During the guided tour, aspects of the community management of pastures and mountain pastures over the centuries will be illustrated, as well as the ritual of seasonal transhumance. You will have a close look at the objects used to process milk, butter, yoghurt and cheese, as well as films on modern production and storage techniques. Following this, we will try our hand at making butter in an easy and fun way. Curd cutters, stirring whips and churns won't have any more secrets!
Timetables: on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. (duration about 45 mins). Mandatory phone reservation at the Ladin Museum. For health and hygiene reasons, access to the production rooms of the dairy is not permitted.
Price: € 5; free for Val di Fassa Guest Card holders and children up to 6 years old.
