Patronal feast of St Vigilius
Moena celebrates for four days the patron saint of the village, San Vigilio, who also gives his name to the parish church
On the occasion of the 170th anniversary of its foundation, from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 June, the Municipal Band of Moena organises a weekend of celebrations culminating with the official celebration of the patron saint on Wednesday 26 June. The San Vigilio festival is an event that is deeply felt by the people of Moena and requires considerable commitment on the part of musicians and volunteers from the various cultural associations, who are involved in organising the marquee set up in "Navalge" and open during the four days. The festival not only pays homage to the town's patron saint, but also celebrates the history of the band and gastronomic traditions, as it will be possible to taste the best typical specialities. During the weekend, there will be concerts and parades intertwined with the two days of "Monc de Pèsc - Mountains of Peace" dedicated to the memory of the Great War in Val di Fassa.
Programme of the patron saint's festival on Friday 21 June:
- 18:00 - opening of the marquee in the locality "Navalge"
- 19:00 - opening of the kitchens
- 20:30 - big party with the party band "Die Lauser" directly from Austria
- 01:00 - closing of the marquee
Programme of the patron saint's festival on Saturday 22 June:
- 10:00 - "Monc de Pèsc - Mountains of Peace", start of recreational activities in the village squares in remembrance of the Great War with displays of the past and historical re-enactors
- 13:00 - celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Moena Fire Brigade
- 18:00 - opening of the marquee
- 19:00 - opening of the kitchens
- 20:30 - great party with the music group "Innkreisebuam" directly from Austria
- 01:00 - closing of the marquee
Programme of the patron saint's festival on Sunday 23 June:
- 10:00-12:00 - "Monc de Pèsc - Mountains of Peace", in the locality "Fango" flag-raising ceremony followed by guided tours of the entrenched camp with reenactors in historical uniforms
- 12:00 - opening of the kitchens and concert by the Folk Band of Folgaria
- 14:30 - parade of band groups through the streets of the town centre to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the Moena Band, with the reenactors of "Monc de Pésc - Montagne di Pace" closing the procession -
- 16:00 - in "Piaz de Ramon" square, lowering of the flag to the sound of "Silence"
- 16:00 - music, party and folklore in the marquee with the "Gipfelblech" musical group
- 19:00 - opening of the kitchens
- 20:30 - big Oktoberfest-style party with the Tirock Band from San Michele all'Adige
- midnight - closing of the marquee
Programme of the patron saint's festival on Wednesday 26 June:
- 08:45 - wake-up of the village, opening of the Sèn Vile celebrations with the parade of the Municipal Band of Moena, the "Schutzen" group, the Fire Brigade and the local authorities
- 10:00 - Holy Mass, followed by the blessing of the new tanker supplied to the Fire Brigade
- 11:00 - concert by the Municipal Band of Moena with the classic "grostoli" (tipical sweets) and parade from the church to the marquee
- 12:00 - opening of the marquee and kitchens
- 14:00 - concert of the Municipal Band of Moena and... possible musical surprises
- 16:00 - closing of the marquee and conclusion of the festival
