I Suoni delle Dolomiti: Il Quartetto della Scala

I Suoni delle Dolomiti is a unique event. A music festival at high altitude that brings together musicians from all over the world in the most beautiful mountains of the Alps. The idea behind this initiative is simple: to combine the great passions for music, art and the mountains in a cycle of concerts under the banner of freedom and nature.
 

I Suoni delle Dolomiti: Il Quartetto della Scala. Roda de Vael (Catinaccio - 2300 m), Thursday 21 September at 2.00 p.m.

The Scala String Quartet was first formed back in 1953. The Quartetto has taken centre stage at prestigious musical events and recordings over the decades, with the face of the group gradually changing over time. For I Suoni delle Dolomiti 2023, Francesco Manara and Daniele Pascoletti on violins, Simonide Braconi on viola and Massimo Polidori on cello will play together surrounded by the Fassa Dolomites.  

Performing during prominent concert events in Italy and abroad, the four musicians are dedicated to preserving the legacy of the historic Quartetto d'Archi della Scala. They have collaborated with high-calibre pianists such as Bruno Canino, Jeffrey Swann, Angela Hewitt, Paolo Restani and Bruno Campanella as well as the likes of E. Pahud, E. Dindo and tenor J. Carreras. The group has also performed numerous premieres of works by contemporary composers including Boccadoro, Campogrande, Francesconi, Digesu, Betta and Vlad. 

How to get to the Roda di Vael Refuge:

• from Vigo di Fassa take the Catinaccio cable car to Ciampedie, follow the way "Vial da le Feide" until the crossing with the path no. 541. Turn to the left and descend to the Roda di Vael Refuge (walking time: 2 hours). The lift pass can be directly bought at the ticket office
• from Pera di Fassa take the chairlifts Vajolet 1, Vajolet 2, Pian Pecei to Ciampedie (20 mins), follow the way "Vial da le Feide" until the crossing with the path no. 541. Turn to the left and descend to the Roda di Vael Refuge (walking time: 2 hours). The lift pass can be directly bought at the ticket office
• from Costalunga Pass take the Paolina chairlift (open from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.) and then on foot along the panoramic path no. 549 (called the Hirzel-Weg), which bends round the Majarè mountain to Roda di Vael Refuge (walking time: 1 hour and 20 minutes). The lift ticket can be bought at the ticket office

The concert will be held at about 20 minutes walk from the refuge in the direction of Cigolade Pass.

Participation is free of charge. On the day of the concert, it is possible to go on a paid hike accompanied by the local mountain guides: € 15 adults; free for children up to 8 years. 20% reduction for Trentino Guest Card and Val di Fassa Guest Card holders. Mandatory reservation within 12.00 p.m. of the previous day in the tourist offices of the valley.

We suggest to reach the venue at least one hour before the scheduled time. Adequate high-altitude clothing recommended.

In case of bad weather, the concert will take place at 5.30 p.m. at Navalge Theatre in Moena. Free tickets distributed at the theatre box office from 3.30 p.m. until sold out.
