The world championship stadiums in Val di Fiemme

A valuable 30-year legacy

Val di Fiemme is a historic location, well-equipped and sustainable.

Its international credibility, proven infrastructure and strong ties to Nordic skiing make it a natural strategic choice as one of the venues for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The valley’s fame began when one of its natives, Franco Nones, and his historic gold medal in the 30 km cross-country event at the 1968 Grenoble Games: a success that ended the monopoly' of the Scandinavians and sparked a passion for cross-country skiing in Italy.

Born in the wake of this enthusiasm were iconic competitions such as the Marcialonga (1971) and the Trofeo Topolino/Skiri Trophy (1983), which afforded visibility to the valley's sporting and youth tradition.

Since the 1990s, Val di Fiemme has hosted three FIS Nordic World Championships (1991, 2003, 2013), confirming its organisational skills and the quality of its facilities.

In addition to the World Championships, the valley has hosted over 400 World Cup races, many final stages of the Tour de Ski and other international events, consolidating its reputation on the world stage of Nordic skiing.

Cross-Country Skiing Centre – Lago di Tesero

The Lago di Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Center is the heart of Nordic skiing in Val di Fiemme.

Created for the 1991 World Championships, it has hosted World Cups, the Tour de Ski and three World Championships, standing out for its modern infrastructure, sustainability and capacity for up to 50,000 spectators. With floodlit technical trails and guaranteed snow cover, it has now been further renovated in preparation for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, confirming its status as an international benchmark.

This historic facility hosted the 2003 and 2013 World Championships, numerous World Cup stages, the Tour de Ski and the famous Trofeo Topolino. It will be the venue for the cross-country skiing and Nordic combined competitions and, at the Paralympics, also for biathlon and cross-country skiing.

The buildings, clad in local wood, are ISO 14001 environmentally certified, and the facility can accommodate up to 50,000 spectators.

Located at 850 metres above sea level, it is equipped with a powerful artificial snow cannon system (including underground pipelines) and lighting that allows training and competitions to continue into the evening. It is open from December to mid-March, with up to 19 kilometres of technical trails suitable for both classic and skating styles.

Thanks to carefully planned expansion of the slopes, new technical climbs, waxing areas and changing rooms, and transformation of the stands into multi-purpose spaces, the facility has been elevated to a level of European and world excellence.

Ski Jump Stadium – Predazzo

The Predazzo Ski Jump Stadium is one of the world's most famous ski jumping facilities.

Built in the 1980s and renovated for the World Championships, it has HS 134 and HS 106 ski jumps and support facilities for athletes and the media. Thanks to its covered launch tracks and evening lighting, it is operational all year round with perfect links to the Latemar ski area, making it an ideal venue for Olympic competitions.

The stadium, which has a total of six ski jumps, hosts World Cup competitions every year and, in 2013, hosted the competitions of the 26th Winter World University Games in Trentino.

The launch tracks are covered in ceramic. In plastic, the landing areas can also be used in summer. The lighting allows competitions to continue even after sunset.
