The Lagorai range is famous for its wild and remote spots, a characteristic which makes it especially attractive. Lake Cece fits this description to a T, and the walk to the lake is quite scenic. From Lake Cece, it is possible to proceed along trail 336 to Lake Caserine di Cece, a typical alpine lake 200 m further uphill. This is a very family-friendly walk. It should however be noted that it allows access to pushchairs only up to Malga Campigolo Grande (due to the fact that only the stretch of road to the   mountain dairy is maintained by a roadman).

Turn-by-turn directions

From Ponte Valmaggiore (1570 m), follow the signs (signposts) for trail 336 along the small road. The road enters a wood called Bosco di Cece (1770 m) and finally reaches Malga Campigolo Grande (1916 m), on a wide and green alpine pasture.

Continue along trail 336 signposted for Lake Cece (1879 m) and the ‘Baito’ (= mountain hut) of the same name on its northern shore.

You can proceed, still on trail 336, to Lake Caserine di Cece, a typical alpine lake located 200 m higher . In order to do so, head south-east along a cobbled path (336) to the farther shore of Lake Cece, then up just a few bends. After a very short descent towards Baito Caserina (1986 m – water spring), cross Rio Valonat. Proceed uphill along what is, correctly speaking, its right bank (as seen going downstream) first along a gentle ascent, then on flat terrain until, after ignoring the crossroads with the Don Battistini trail (336 bis, right fork), you reach the small lake of Caserina di Cece (2087 m).

Return to the departing place by the same route.

Getting there

SS48 (Val di Fiemme national road ) up to Predazzo. Follow the signs for the town centre; turn right just before the bridge across the Travignolo Torrent (sign for ‘Valmaggiore’) and carry on along the small, flat road. You soon reach a place where that road divides. Take the left fork uphill (signposted for ‘Valmaggiore’ and ‘Laghi Moregna’) to Ponte Valmaggiore and the nearby ‘malga’ of the same name. Various parking places in lay-bys.
