SAT / E136 - Serrada - Forte Dosso delle Somme - Passo Coe

A route that from the village of Serrada climbs the Martinella ridge and, passing by Fort Dosso delle Somme, a witness to the Great War 1914-1918, runs along the ridges with the arrival point at the Camini crossroads, near Passo Coe. It offers extensive views of the Pasubio massif and the upper Val di Terragnòlo.

The signposts for path no. 136 start from the square in the village of Serrada; take the steep little road that goes through the locality of "Schirni" and, past the last houses, you will reach a wooden crucifix. Continue eastwards, now on a mule track, which for a long stretch runs in a comfortable groove parallel to the track. At an altitude of about 1320 metres, turn right and, gaining height in the wood, you reach the locality of Valletta, where you cross the former military road that goes up to Forte Dosso delle Somme.

Cross the road and climb up the opposite slope, then continue uphill through a beautiful strip of woodland and higher up, walk alongside the Martinella ski slope. From here, aiming for the arrival station of the chairlift of the same name (also in operation in summer), you reach the Baita Tonda refuge. Having left the summit, continue south-eastwards, now on open ground, and descend to the saddle between Dosso della Martinella and Dosso delle Somme. Having reached the lowest point, we regain altitude, join the road that climbs to the Fortress and, after a short stretch of dirt track, reach the ruins of the fortress. The panoramic views of the Pasubio massif and the surrounding crown of peaks repay the effort. Having passed the ruins of the fortress, continue eastwards and, remaining on the watershed, pass two bumps (on the last of which a chairlift arrives from Fondo Piccolo) beyond which, with a short steep descent, you reach a saddle known as 'Cargadóre'. Now go left on a dirt road, cross a ski slope, then leave a fork to the right for Monte Maggio and, immediately afterwards, pass in front of the 'Monumento alla Fratellanza' (Brotherhood Monument), a recent construction erected in 2010 in memory of Folgaretans who fell in the various wars. From here, you are soon on the Folgarìa-Passo Coe-Veneto road, near the 'Bus de la Nef de le Cóe'. Passo Coe is located a few hundred metres further upstream.
