The route to Monte Biaina, almost entirely through the forest, promises an unexpected and charming panoramic view out over Riva del Garda and Lake Garda that reveals itself only in the final part of the course.

Monte Biaina is a small elevation located south of the more famous San Giovanni pass that connects Valle del Sarca to the Giudicarie Esteriori valleys.

It is the classical family trek with a short difference in height and a lovely lookout point for a nice pic nic.

Turn-by-turn directions

On the left side of the dirt road that leads to the Prai da Gom locality starts another dirt road that climbs up into the forest. Sat sign “Monte Biaina”, Trail No. 407. The road ascends with a few hairpin bends up to a thinner section of the forest, from which Sat trail No. 407 departs.

Initially, the trail climbs along the mountain side, then shifts to the right of the ridge that runs in the direction of the summit.

At an altitude of 1395 m the trail crosses over the ridge in a south-east direction and reaches a clearing in the forest.

In the clearing there is a dirt road that climbs up from the valley and proceeds to the right.

Reach the road and shortly after, on the right, you will see on a tree the typical red/white SAT sign with black lettering on a white background: a cross.

Leave the road and follow the trail initially up into the forest and then, up and down for a while, along the ridge, until you reach the cross on the summit from where you can finally enjoy the panorama that till then was barely visible through the vegetation.

Trace your steps back to the departure point.

Getting there

Leave the car at the car park in Prai da Gom (1125 m).
