Amidst the silence of the first hours of the new day still blanketing the mountain, sliding down the slopes perfectly groomed by the snowcats after a meticulous night's work becomes almost a ritual, marked only by the sound of the ski edges cutting through the first layer of hard snow. This experience will also be offered next winter at numerous locations between December and March by Trentino Ski Sunrise. And of course, there will be a tasty breakfast at the hut, prepared according to traditional recipes. You can extend your day even further by skiing under the stars or choose another activity to finish your day.

Try the Snowmoon experience in Madonna di Campiglio. A peaceful hike with a mountain guide using the light of the full moon to direct your steps and illuminate your surroundings. Enjoy the silence of the forest at night. Further information is available here: www.campigliodolomiti.it/topexperience

Leave your footprint in the snow of Val di Fiemme at sunset on the Lavazé Plateau. Experience an expanse of white, a stillness enveloping the fir forest, the walls of the Latemar turning fiery red. Move with the sun, with each step taking you from dusk to night. Lift your gaze to the sky and admire the millions of stars surrounding you. Finish your journey with the opportunity to dine in an alpine hut. Find out more at www.visitfiemme.it.

“Enrosadira”, the sunset over the Dolomite peaks, is not merely a moment of the day. It is an expectation, a state of mind, a set of emotions that, when coupled with the spectacular views of the Dolomites, becomes unforgettable. Next winter, among the Pale di San Martino, the #enrosadiratime will take place: enjoy a snack or even an exclusive dinner at enrosadira to heighten your experience. There are several special events being organized by the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Park operators: easy walks in the snow under the moon and stars, with unlimited high-altitude panoramas in the presence of the most beautiful peaks, all to be admired while sipping an aperitif at sunset.

An aperitif in an exclusive location such as the woods on the Alpe Tognola, to be reached onboard a snowmobile, is a welcome surprise. At the bar, a selection of local products await you to be enjoying surrounded by the warmth of the torches and the magic of the snowy forest, all illuminated by the last light of Enrosadira. This experience is available every Wednesday from 17:30 onwards. Also available during the week for groups. Find out more at www.sanmartino.com.

Enjoy a high-altitude breakfast at dawn at the summit of Monte Maggio in Alpe Cimbra. The traditional breakfast is the reward for a walk at first light in the crisp morning air. For those who would prefer a longer sleep, you can wait until the end of the day to enjoy a picnic on a moonlit sledge. Switch off the torches and let your eyes adjust to the light of the Moon projected onto the snow. Learn more at www.alpecimbra.it.

Soak in a warm whirlpool in the middle of the mountains while admiring the last rays of the sun as it illuminates the peaks, and the colours in the sky range from red to purple to indigo. At an altitude of 2,225m, on the route of the famous Sellaronda in the Col Rodella ski area in Val di Fassa, the Salei hut has a large wellbeing area overlooking the slopes and the Trentino Dolomites. A piece of paradise between heaven and earth with saunas and heated pools and a relaxation area on the large private terrace. On the inside, rooms and suites are comfortable and cosy. It can be reached on skis or from Passo Sella with the mountain hut’s snowcat. Book now at www.rifugiosalei.it.

Sweet dreams in the "ice room" on the glacier

Climb to high altitude, enjoy a wonderful day of skiing on 100km of slopes in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Alps and then in the evening, instead of returning to the valley, turn the night into an unforgettable dreamlike experience. All of course, without sacrificing comfort. On the Presena glacier, at an altitude of 2,750m next to the Capanna Presena hut, artist Ivan Mariotti together with a team of five people to create three igloo rooms equipped with every comfort. Alongside them, there is also an ‘ice cellar’, in which the best of local tradition can be enjoyed. Temporary works of art are to be admired immediately as they will only be available until spring when they will inevitably melt away. The temperature inside the rooms always remains around 4 degrees. The bed is also made of ice: a PVC mattress, a blanket for thermal insulation and then a normal mattress is placed on its base. Guests will also be able to enjoy the high-quality services provided by the adjacent Capanna Presena, a fully renovated mountain hut with a charming SPA. https://rifugipassotonale.it/it/

Take precautions in the mountains

Before leaving for a snow adventure at high altitude you must ensure you carefully plan your day and, if you are tackling a trail classified as very technically difficult or, if you are a beginner, always trust an alpine guide. It is always advisable to contact the mountain hut in the area you want to visit to get information on the route and the weather conditions, to make sure that you wear appropriate clothing for your excursion.
