Villa Welsperg, Val Canali
To mark its 30th year, The Sounds of the Dolomites festival is bringing in The Philharmonic Oboe Quartet from the Berlin Philharmonic. This is a unique group - think three string players plus an oboist - and they're all about pushing musical boundaries. They'll be performing with vocalists Elio and Scilla Cristiano at the lovely Villa Welsperg in Val Canali.
Both of these performances promise to be something really special.
As every year, the Sunrise Concert promises unforgettable moments…
On September 4 at 6:00 AM in Val di Fassa (Col Margherita, Dolomiti di Fassa) it will host renowned musician Wu Wei, born in China and trained in Shanghai and Berlin. He is inextricably linked to the sheng, an ancient Chinese instrument that resembles a small mouth organ, consisting of bamboo pipes set into a metal frame. Wu Wei delivers real magic from this millennia-old instrument, bringing it from its origins - dating back around 3,000 years - into the 21st century.
Wu Wei's mastery of the sheng and versatility across melody, harmony, rhythm, and polyphony, has led to collaborations with diverse artists and ensembles in traditional, chamber, and orchestral music. His musical explorations extend to solo improvisations, and performances with a variety of genres and styles.
Last but not least, this edition will feature the three-day trekking concert series from September 12 to 14 in the Dolomiti di Brenta, featuring multiple performances along the way.
What makes I Suoni delle Dolomiti so special is not just the music but also the journey to the concert venues. Audience members often hike alongside the musicians through lush alpine meadows and green forests, building anticipation with every step for this extraordinary fusion of nature and culture.
Additionally, selected concerts are accessible to people with hearing loss thanks to an innovative tactile audio system that allows them to experience music through a specially designed audio vest.
