90% SNOW

90% SNOW

The best technology is the one you cannot see: under the spotlight, on the stage, there are the Trentino ski slopes, a white paradise immersed in the enchanted Dolomites scenery, but “behind the scenes” a whole team is methodically at work, a comprehensive and cutting edge “system” that can be considered a case history in the tourist and sports sector, a forerunner of new trends.

In Trentino’s ski areas skiers can access a whole range of facilities, among the most modern in the Alps, which have been in operation for less than 15 years and offer safety standards among the highest ones in Europe. Gondolas with 8 to 16 seats, four-seater and six-seater chairlifts with automatic coupling, state-of the-art cable cars are now the backbone of major ski areas and of the links between neighbouring ones. They are computer controlled to allow greater speed, hence shorter queues at turnstiles, more safety and greater comfort, especially in case of bad weather, thanks to chairlifts equipped with special fairings to protect the skiers.

As for snow-making systems, now guaranteed to cover 90 per cent of the slopes, Trentino is again at the forefront, with a view to saving resources and reducing emissions.

The quality of snow also means well prepared and constantly attended tracks, harmoniously introduced in the environment.  All this is due to a small army of track workers and technicians, ready to take over at sunset, as soon as the last skilift stops, on board powerful snow grooming vehicles that can go up any slope, however steep.
