Voices of Christmas
Atmospheric Christmas concert in the small church in Forno with the participation of the "Nosc" from Soraga and "Rigoverticale" from Mezzocorona choirs
"An ounce of voice and a pound of heart". These are the words of presentation that can be read on the "Nosc" Choir's Facebook page. Born from the idea of two friends, the choir debuted in 2015 in Soraga, the home town of the founding members. In the Ladin language, the name means "our choir", symbolising a project that was born as a small creature, the fruit of the love of a few, to be given, however, to the whole community. The voices evoke in the listeners' minds scenes of past lives, glimpses of hidden landscapes, palettes of sincere feelings. Having started with only eight members, the group is gradually expanding, both in the number of singers and in the number of songs performed. Thanks to the work of Maestro Peter Decrestina, who has taken on the arduous task of researching and arranging the songs, the choir can now boast a respectable repertoire, consisting mostly of little-known folk songs, making itself a spokesman for that magical tradition that characterises, albeit with due nuances, all the mountain valleys. In recent years, the choir has also begun to perform outside the valley, and since 2019 has been the promoter of the "Ousc da Mont" choral review, which boasts the participation of the most important mountain choirs in the Dolomites.
The polyphonic choir "Rigoverticale" of Mezzocorona was founded in 2002. From the earliest years, the ensemble has approached different genres: pieces from the soundtrack of some of the most engaging and famous musicals in the history of Broadway, light music, pieces from Italian musical comedy, typical national and international songs. In recent years, the choir has embarked on a path of expanding its repertoire, which now ranges from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary rhythms, both sacred and secular. Since 2008, the choir's direction has been entrusted to Maestro Mattia Culmone, who has wanted to emphasise little-known pieces in order to search for his own originality, thanks also to unpublished harmonisations. The "Rigoverticale" Choir has been highly praised at regional, national and international festivals. Accompanying the ensemble is Veronica Cividini at the piano.
Friday 22 December at 9 p.m. in front of the church of San Lazzaro, in the hamlet of "Forno". Free admission. Limited parking spaces.
