Carla Marcotulli Quintet
The 29th edition of Dolomiti Ski Jazz lands at the "La Grenz" club in Moena with Carla Marcotulli: an evening that weaves together jazz, gospel and great classics, enhanced by tributes to Duke Ellington and Chet Baker
From 7 to 16 March, the "jazz track" crosses the valleys of Fassa and Fiemme with concerts on the terraces of the refuges, in clubs, theatres and squares. From Canazei to Cavalese, all the way to Cembra: the Dolomiti Ski Jazz proposes also this year as many as 25 concerts. Warm rhythms such as jazz, but also blues, funk and Latin music will create thrilling contrasts with the snow-covered scenery of the Dolomites. Artists from the international scene will perform in the evenings in the clubs and theatres of the villages, while during the day they will take to the mountains, on the terraces of the mountain huts, some of which can also be reached by non-skiers. The festival will move day after day from one slope to another, from the Belvedere ski area in Canazei to the Alpe Cermis in Cavalese.

Carla Marcotulli
Growing up in a musical environment, she breathed art from an early age: her father, a sound technician, worked with big names such as Rubinstein, Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone and others. Even at a very young age, she frequented recording studios for soundtracks, pop music and TV theme songs. At 16, she enrolled at the conservatory in Frosinone, where she studied flute and attended Maestro Gerardo Iacoucci's jazz course. He sang as a soloist in the conservatory's Gospel choir and Big Band, performing in 1983 at the Rome Jazz Festival alongside Chet Baker. In the same year, Carmen McRae invited her to duet during a concert at the Music Inn in Rome. In 1986, she released her first record, Flying, with musicians such as Antonio Faraò and Massimo Urbani. Two years later, she took part in one of Chet Baker's last recordings (Chet on Poetry) and collaborated with Nicola Piovani on tour. In 1993, he recorded with Giorgio Tommaso (Over the Ocean), awarded as the best album of the year, and performed at the first edition of Umbria Jazz Winter. In the following years, she devoted herself to modern works, taking her to perform in New York, Washington and Puerto Rico. Recent projects include: Love is the Sound of Surprise (2018) and the choir for Duke Ellington's Sacred Concerts (2017), as well as preparing the choir for the Matthew Hebert Brexit Project on a European tour.
Bruce Ditmas
A drummer, composer and producer active for over 50 years, he has worked with legends such as the Gil Evans Orchestra, Jaco Pastorius and Barbra Streisand. He has worked on Broadway and composed music for film, television and theatre.
