Round tour of the mountain farms Masi di Grumes
A round tour that, starting from the town of Grumes (Altavalle), takes us to the German-origin ancient farms through lawns, fields and wide panoramic views.
A walk into the peace and quiet of the woods to discover the ancient farms Masi di Grumes, a spot in the mountains that was able to preserve the atmosphere of its origins, which are to be found in the Medieval time. The names and the place names (toponyms) attribute the origin of the farms to the German immigrations which involved the Trentino area between the 11th and the 16th centuries. They were encouraged by the Tyrolean Lords of Koenigsberg and the Prince-bishop of Trento to increase tithes and control an important connecting route between Tyrol and the valley Valle dell’Adige. For around four centuries after their arrival, the German farmers in the area of the farms Masi di Grumes kept their language and their customs, which deeply influenced the local culture. This trail connects in circle the farms Masi Greggion, Ferrai, Pojeri, Todescat, Giovanni, Gaiardi, Noldi, Orion e Pinteri, which are in an amphitheater of woods and lawns.
