Space for our planet - Exhibition at the MUSE
Exhibition opening: 12 June on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of astrophysicist Margherita Hack
Why do we go into space? In a world plagued by climate change, poverty and war, talking about space innovation may seem like nonsense. However, the technological research developed to explore the Universe has important spin-offs in our daily lives: earth observation satellites, for example, help scientists collect vital data on the health of glaciers and oceans, geo-localise and recover fields and forests, protect wildlife, and connect people, schools and businesses in the most remote parts of the world.
After stops at the European Parliament in Brussels, the Expo in Dubai, the Observatoire gardens in Paris, the Cité de l'Espace Toulouse and the Living Planet Symposium in Bonn, 'Space for our planet' arrives at the MUSE in Trento for the Italian premiere of the exhibition. The exhibition, which will be open to the public from 13 June to 23 October 2022 in the museum's garden, develops through 35 photographic panels dedicated to the voices of astronomers and astronauts, farmers, students, engineers, climatologists and fishermen from all over the world.
The exhibition, curated by astrophysicist Fiorella Cololio and production manager Benoit Delplanque, has the patronage of the United Nations and the support of the European Commission, ESA, ASI, CNES, German Space Agency, Portugal Space, Nereus, IAU, GIVE.
