Top lake activities in Trentino

In the cool of the Trentino lakes

There are more than 300 lakes scattered throughout this region. Warm lakes you can swim in, as big as the sea, Alpine lakes offering refreshment after reaching a mountain hut, green lakes, red lakes hiding forests of the past, lakes you can cycle around through meadows where you can stop for an ice cream or a delicious picnic.

Special waters for sailing, sup or canoeing with instructors, lifeguards and pedalos. Living lakes where children can learn about the mountains and, with mum and dad, feel free.

Below are some suggestions on what to do on the lakes of Trentino

Overhanging Lake Garda

The Busatte Path winds its way along 4 kilometres of enchantment down from Busatte to Tempesta. The sheer steps, the green shades of the vegetation, the turquoise waters of Lake Garda: everything is there to make this walk memorable

The best times to walk the Busatte Path are in the morning, because it is cooler and less crowded.

The olive tree path

In Garda Trentino we've been growing olives for thousands of years and our oil has always been a great resource. Learn more about olives on this route through the Arco olive groves, an extraordinary, almost Leonardesque and movingly beautiful landscape.

The suspension bridge over Lake Tenno

To really experience Lake Tenno and its beautiful green basin, the beach is not enough! A few metres from the north shore of the lake, there is a suspension bridge over the bed of the Rio Secco. This 120-metre-long footbridge takes you high up so you can admire the most valuable natural area of the lake basin.

In the pile dwellings of Lake Ledro

Go back in time on the shores of Lake Ledro. The Lake Ledro Pile Dwelling Museum, a UNESCO site, is a perfectly reconstructed Bronze Age village, with its pile dwellings and precious artefacts. Your chance to discover how we lived 4000 years ago.

Around the Valsugana lakes

The Valsugana lakes, one in Caldonazzo, the other in Levico, are close together, separated only by a hill. You can cycle or walk around them: Lake Caldonazzo has a lovely cycle path, which takes you beyond the Trentino border; Lake Levico, on the other hand, has the easy Sentiero dei Pescatori (Fishermen's Path), which goes from the beach into the cool of the woods.

On Lake Molveno in a pedalo

You can already see the Dolomites quite well from the beach of Lake Molveno, but to get an even better view, we recommend renting a pedalo or an electric boat and moving to different spots on the lake. The scenery is enchanting! After all, even the poet Antonio Fogazzaro described Lake Molveno as a precious pearl in an even more precious jewel box.
