From 20 to 22 September in Trento and in the Trentino cellars

From 20 to 22 September 2024, the city of Trento and the Trentino cellars will host the second edition of Trentodoc Festival: three days to taste, learn, share and make friends with mountain sparkling wines.

A party that involves guests, insiders, journalists and enthusiasts, with a rich calendar of events: guided tastings, DJ sets, experiences in the city and in the vineyards, talks and meetings with sommeliers, chefs, oenologists, winemakers and known names from around the world of art, design, fashion, literature and gastronomy.

The point of reference of the Festival is the city of Trento, with its courtyards, parks and historic buildings, some of which will be opened for the occasion. And let’s not forget bars and restaurants, which, during the days of the festival, will enliven the historic district with events, tastings and menus combined with Trentodoc. And there will be more: the Festival will stretch beyond the city walls with a variety of events held in the Trentino area, to discover the places of origin of Trentodoc.

The first D.O.C. spumante in Italy

The history of the Trentodoc dates back to the beginning of the last century, when Giulio Ferrari, oenologist at the San Michele Agricultural Institute – today the Mach Foundation – had the intuition of trying to produce spumante from Trentino grapes. Indeed, during his travels, he realised that the nature and climatic conditions of Trentino were quite suitable for spumante making. And so it was.

Thus began a story made up of experiences shared by winegrowers and wineries, handed down with pride and care from generation to generation.

Official recognition came in 1993. Trentodoc became the first D.O.C. label in Italy, and among the first in the world, assigned to a classic method.

Today, there are more than a hundred labels in Trentino that boast the Trentodoc territorial collective brand shown on each bottle and recognisable with the graphics of the two “Os": riddling, bottle rotation with a small shake so that residues collect in the neck, a peculiarity of the production method.

The Festival

A big bet, a sold out Festival that confirmed the interest, curiosity and growing success of a perfect sparkling wine for every occasion. In 2024, the third edition is preparing to expand venues and events.

Each appointment, with free admission or with paid tastings, requires a reservation in order to guarantee a sustainable capacity in each location.
