Autumn in Trentino paves the way to mountain huts
Discover where to get a full dose of fresh air and sunshine before winter falls
Mountains in autumn hold an undeniable charm. The salubrious high altitude air mixed with the golden light rebounding off the vibrant colours of the woods, brings a sense of calmness and comfort.
With clear blues skies and more stable weather, you can enjoy long peaceful walks through the woods, across crunchy carpets of leaves, feeling carefree as the simple sound of shuffling leaves brings back childhood memories. In Autumn, we like to stock up our freezer for winter, but we also need to stock up with some energy for ourselves.
Mountain huts are the perfect spots to enjoy autumn in Trentino: fresh air aplenty and sunny panoramic terraces. Plus, the aroma of polenta and goulash, the fellow mountaineers’ stories, a drop of grappa in your coffee, followed by the inevitable snooze on a bench, finishing with uncontaminated starry skies as far as the eye can see.
The season ends officially on the 20th September, although if the weather is predicted to stay pleasant, many mountain huts extend their opening times, some up to November. Discover where you can enjoy an autumn day-out on the mountains, full of fresh air and traditional flavours.
