Glaciers are familiar presences, keepers of memories, sentinels of climate change.

How will water availability change downstream? What will be the impact on biodiversity and mountain communities? How will tourism and agriculture have to reinvent themselves in order to survive?  

The image of the Alps is changing before our eyes. The peaks that once seemed eternal are losing their white mantle. They are leaving behind dark rocks and temporary lakes.

The melting of glaciers accelerates our awareness: it makes us vulnerable, but also more aware of the need to change course.
