Unwind and relax in the Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra

Feel good amid the lush green of the Dolomites and Lagorai mountains

The Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra merge into each other, and both are crossed by the Avisio stream, which lends each of them their own unique landscape. The Val di Cembra is deep and narrow, while the Val di Fiemme is open and sunny.

Both valleys boast a generous abundance of nature, such as that found within the Paneveggio Natural Park, or Latemar and Lagorai. Here, paths wend their way through silent woods, traverse terraced vineyards and are immersed in nature – a place to breathe, unwind and rejuvenate body and mind.

It’s the ideal place to enjoy a slow-paced experience: the ones that gladden your heart. We’ve assembled 5 recommendations – just a small ‘taster’ of the wealth of activities you can enjoy in the Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra this summer.

#1

Towards the Potzmauer mountain hut with a mountain guide

The path leading to the Potzmauer hut is very easy, albeit uphill. It traverses forests of silver fir, spruce and Scots pine to emerge into the grass-filled bowl where hut is situation. When you reach it, the hut is a perfect location for a hearty lunch with traditional dishes and stays of one or more nights in one of its rooms.

#2

Along the Dürer Trail

The Val di Cembra forms the backdrop for a part of the historical trail called the Dürerweg, which follows Albrecht Dürer’s famed "journey to Italy” and reaches the rare geological phenomenon called the Pyramids of Segonzano. The origins of these earth pyramids – some up to 20 metres high – date to about 20 thousand years ago and their extraordinary natural beauty can easily be admired.

#3

In the forest of violins

In the so-called ‘forest of violins’, where Stradivarius used to select spruce trees to make his violins, you can follow the Marciò nature trail. This easy walk crosses a spectacular suspension bridge and leads up to a deer wildlife area, where you can observe them in their natural habitat.

#4

Ascent to the Bombasel lakes with a mountain guide

On this hike, you’ll discover the Lagorai mountains as you ascend to the crystal-clear, emerald-green Bombasel lakes. This easy, panoramic hike passes through different landscapes: grassy slopes, paths, easy mule tracks made with large stones, finally reaching the beautiful lakes set amid dark rocks.

#5

Art at high altitude

In Pampeago you can visit Respirart, the world’s highest art park, travelling on the first and only "Seminovia"(The "Agnello"chairlift). After ascending through a forest and reaching pastures, you throw the alfalfa seeds from the Seminovia, which you’ll be given before you start. The alfalfa grass feeds the earth, bees, goats and cows. Then descend the path, amid wonderful works of art by artists inspired by nature and the local area.
