Located in the southern section of the large Dolomiti Superski district, this ski area boasts over 60 km of slopes for Alpine skiing, toboggan runs, 30 km of cross-country skiing tracks and an equal number of nature fitness trails in breathtaking natural surroundings which, for over thirty years now, have been under the protection of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park.
San Martino di Castrozza is a historically renowned and a stylish skiing resort set in a broad valley surrounded by thick conifer forests. It is dominated by the Dolomitic Pale di San Martino group and enjoys a strategic position for skiing, being ideally located near the uphill facilities to the 45 km ski-runs of the Carosello delle Malghe and Colverde skiing networks.
The ski-run unfurl on slopes facing different directions, which means excellent snow conditions and guaranteed sunlight from the early morning until late afternoon. Back-up artificial snow system always guarantees an adequate supply of snow. The ski-runs form an interesting and enjoyable network, from the difficult Direttissima, Tognola Uno and Kristiania to the many red runs, from the most scenic slopes to the ski camps. Kids will find three well-equipped ski mini-clubs: Tognola, Prà delle Nasse and Cereda Natural Park.
Passo Rolle is a Dolomite mountain pass at 2000 metres asl, dominated by the Cimon della Pala, aka Cervino delle Dolomiti, and Cima Vezzana peaks. Thanks to its elevation and position the skiing season here is one of the longest in Trentino (no less than five months). The resort's historic hotels, which have a great atmosphere, are conveniently located right next to the ski runs. Passo Rolle is only 9 km from San Martino di Castrozza, with which it shares both tourist facilities and a skibus service. There are a total of 15 km of slopes served by snow-making facilities, 5 easy, 7 medium and 3 difficult, approved for international competitions; there are 5 ski lifts, including a moving walkway for beginners.
Snowboarding enthusiasts can head for the Rolle Railz Park, which also has a dedicated area for tobogganing. All the necessary equipment can be hired locally.
Families who wish to teach their children to ski should head for the ski-camp especially tailored for kids at Primiero-Passo Cereda. The run is located at Passo Cereda, just 9 km from Fiera, it is very wide and served by a ski lift. Along the side of the ski-run there is a beaten snow slope for toboggans or bobsleighs. This is the ideal solution for families with small kids. Primiero also serves as an ideal base for the nearby slopes of San Martino di Castrozza and Passo Rolle, which can be reached with the skibus service.
