Concert of the bulgarian women's choir Kitka
The ensemble of fourteen Bulgarian singers, resident in Vienna, performs traditional polyphonic "a cappella" pieces
As part of the second international folk music festival "Discanto", organised by the METS - Trentino Ethnographic Museum San Michele (artistic direction Renato Morelli) and the Santa Chiara Cultural Services Centre in Trento, the Ladin Cultural Institute is hosting a concert by the Kitka choir.
This female ensemble was founded in 2012 as part of Bulgarian Rhythms, a cultural association that promotes Bulgarian folkloric traditions in Vienna. The choir, directed by Maria Zlatanov, has participated in numerous concerts in Europe and won second prize at the World Peace Festival in Vienna in 2023.
The event will provide an opportunity to rediscover ancient choral traditions, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
The concert will be held at 5 p.m. in the "Sala Grana" of the Ladin Cultural Institute with free admission.
