The "Trentodoc Festival" is an event dedicated to the celebration of Trentodoc, the prestigious sparkling wine produced according to the classic Trentino method. The festival wants to raise awareness of the quality and tradition of our sparkling wines and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about and taste different labels, participating in masterclasses with the largest and most awarded master wines and sommeliers. From 26 to 28 September 2025, the city of Trento and the Trentino area will host the fourth edition of the Trentodoc Festival, three days dedicated solely to "mountain bubbles". The event, as well as in the cellars, will also take place in various locations in the historic centre of the capital.
The streets, squares and palaces of the city of Trento will host exclusive meetings and stimulating events where it will be possible, thanks to authoritative voices and multidisciplinary views, to learn about mountain bubbles in their most classic form or accompanied by the words of art, ecology, literature and design.
Together with the city, the territory is also getting ready: the participating sparkling wine houses will contribute to enriching the schedule by organising ad hoc experiences aimed at festival participants, right there, where the product originates, rooted in its own history. A magnificent opportunity for a sparkling autumn trip where you can drink well, where you can feel good.
The first DOC sparkling wine in Italy
The history of Trentodoc dates back to the beginning of the last century when Giulio Ferrari, oenologist at the San Michele Agricultural Institute, now the "Mach Foundation", had the intuition to try to produce bubbles from Trentino grapes. During his travels he had, in fact, noticed that the nature of the terroir and the climatic conditions of Trentino could be winning. And so it was. Then began a story made up of experiences shared by winemakers and wineries, handed down with pride and care from generation to generation. Some pioneering producers decided to join forces in 1984, founding what was then called Istituto Trento Classico. In 1993 the official recognition came, and the Trentino bubbles became the first DOC in Italy obtained by the classic method. Finally, by the will of the members of the Institute, which in the meantime has taken the name of Istituto Trento Doc, in 2007 the non-commercial brand "Trentodoc" was born, with the aim of protecting and promoting the excellence of the classic Trentino method.
