828 - Passo del Sommo - Ortesino
The beauty of the forest. The silence of nature. The ancient signs of a rural world made of cows on the mountain pasture, of freshly milked milk, of fresh and tasty cheese. The flavours and fragrances of the Alpe!
From the Sommo Pass, we take an easy dirt road that leads from the pass through the golf course greens to the Stella d'Italia refuge amidst expanses of woodland and pastureland: be careful, you might run into deer! Having passed the ruins of a Great War barracks (we are also on the way to Forte Sommo alto) we push on our mountain bikes, cross the ridge and descend into a wide forest basin. We are now in the area of an ancient mountain pasture station, the Ortesino malga, a mountain restaurant (the flavours of Trentino!) that welcomes us with its specialities! Try it to believe! Nearby is the so-called 'Stallone', a large stable covered with stone slabs. It is well worth a visit. Who knows how many mooing noises under the large vaulted gallery!
