Pozza - Val Monzoni

From Pozza into the wild Val Monzoni: pastures as far as the eye can see, isolated huts and a single alpine hut at the end of the valley. Guarding this natural jewel are Cima Undici and Cima Dodici.

Starting from Piaza de Comun along Strada de Meida which then becomes Strada Ruf de Ruacia, reach a bridge (Pont de Garneté) crossing the Ruf de Sén Nicolò, near the Soldanella Restaurant. Just before, on the right, take the dirt road that climbs the left orographic side of the stream, initially with a rather gentle slope that becomes progressively steeper, facing a short series of hairpin bends. Afterwards, the path becomes flat again until it joins the road of Val San Nicolò. Just above Malga al Crocifisso, take right into Val Monzoni. After the gate, a hairpin bend and a long diagonal quickly gain elevation. The climb through the forest is continuous, sometimes even steep. Overcome a steep but short ramp and, leaving on the right the junction of trail no. 635 for Pian de la Peracia, go on the flat to cross the Ruf di Munciogn. Continue to Malga Monzoni located in the middle of a vast pasture. For return, from the hut descend about 1.5 km to Pont da la Fessura then take the dirt road on the right that crosses the deep canyon. It emerges onto the road leading to Val San Nicolò (Pians da l'Ancona), follow it downhill and return to Pozza (beware of taxis and rubber-wheeled train).
