Pozza (Buffaure) - Col de Valvacin - Buffaure Ridges - Sentiero I Trec - Val San Nicolò - Pozza

The suggestive high-altitude crossing, which runs along the long and panoramic ridge between Col de Valvacin and Sela Brunéch, allows you to contemplate all the peaks of Val di Fassa from an unusual perspective.

Once you reach Buffaure with the cable car, descend the slope to the saddle and then go left on the wide ski slope (here below on the right, you can also take the chairlift that goes up to Col de Valvacin) and reach the locality Buffaure di Sopra, near the Baita Cuz Refuge. Start climbing again and, with a comfortable zigzag, exit onto the ridge. Head towards the upper station of the chairlift following trail no. 613, then overcome the steep ramp that leads to Sas de Adam (magnificent panoramic view of all the Dolomites of Fassa), after which you start to descend. When the ridge rises again, you cross the northern slopes until you reach the locality of Sela Brunéch (2.00 hours). Walk the first part of the ridge (trail no. 613/B) and immediately reach a fork. Descend to the right along a path that cuts across the grassy slope of Val di Roseal until you reach the locality Foscac di Sopra, where there are three beautiful huts, beyond which you take a zigzag path which ends on a forest road. Shortly after, you reach the World War I monument and the Baita Ciampiè in Val San Nicolò, from where you return to Pozza.

Alternatively, from Sela Brunéch, above the chairlift (here the trail becomes no. 613/B) climb towards the narrow ridge that closes the Ciampac basin to the south and opens, on the right, with a spectacular view over Val San Nicolò. After crossing the ridge completely, you reach the steep outcrops of Sas de Roces, forcing you to move to the Val San Nicolò slope. Descend several switchbacks to then cross a long high-altitude diagonal, equipped in some steep sections with a metal rope, until reaching the wide grassy saddle above Sas Bianch. Climb trail no. 613 which, with a steep diagonal, crosses the western slope of Varosc, where remains of fortifications dating back to World War I are still present. Descend the eastern slope in sight of the Passo San Nicolò Refuge which is reached in a few minutes (4.00 hours). You return descending into Val San Nicolò via trail no. 608, with wide views of the geological stratifications of the Rois del Giaf stream, until Baita Ciampié and Pozza by the paved road.
