From Moena to Soraga, nature just steps from home

A relaxing walk from Moena, the Fairy of the Dolomites, to Soraga, skirting the high Lago di Pecé surrounded by Latemar, Catinaccio and the Monzoni ridge.

Walking over gentle slopes at the foot of the Monzoni, reveals a story about the life of mountain people, once deeply connected to nature and its rhythms. Just before climbing the "Cernadoi" staircase, which leads from Moena to the picturesque hamlet of Someda, on the right you find a recently renovated building. In the past it housed the "Bottega del Pinter," where skilled hands made sturdy barrels for food preservation. It was property of the Regola di Moena, an institution of self-governance for the use of communal goods, then the home of the Premissario, the priest who celebrated the first mass of the morning. Arriving in Someda, the bell tower of the Gothic church of Saints Rocco and Sebastiano stands against the sky, symbol of devotion and resilience. Built during the difficult plague years, it was rebuilt after the devastating fire of January 1883, still guarding the soul of its community today. Further on, the meadows of Soraga Alta open in an embrace: the beauty of the landscape joins the memory of the past, giving every traveler a moment of peace and wonder.
