Ciampedie - Gardeccia - Passo Principe - Antermoia Refuge - Val Duron - Campitello

Classic route starting from the Gardeccia basin that leads to one of the most enchanting lakes of the Dolomites. The alpine mirror, heart-shaped and with crystal-clear waters, is hidden among the isolated screes of the Catinaccio and, according to legend, was formed thanks to a nymph.

Having reached the Gardeccia basin from Ciampedie (cable car ascent from Vigo and path no. 540; 45 min.) or from Pera using the chairlifts (25 min.), continue on the wide mule track (path no. 546) which leads to the Preuss and Vajolet refuges, on the rocky spur of the Porte Neigre. Ascend along path no. 584, constantly uphill, on the right side of the upper Vaiolét valley, at the head of which the massive bulk of the Catinaccio d’Antermoia becomes more and more imposing. After overcoming a steep final hairpin bend you reach the Passo Principe Refuge, set against a rocky wall a few meters from the homonymous pass. Turn right passing at the base of the large wall of the Catinaccio d’Antermoia and then ascend along a steep zigzag the scree slope up to Passo Antermoia. Descend along the other side into the Valon de Antermoa, a flat and melancholic scree, skirt the lake where according to ancient legends the witches of Fassa gathered and, crossing the emissary, reach the Antermoia Refuge. Leaving the refuge head (path no. 580) towards the nearby Pas de Dona. Descending through scree and grassy tufts, cut diagonally to the left the head of the Val de Dona, leaving path no. 580 that descends to Mazzin via Val Udai, to join path no. 578. In a few minutes reach Pas de Ciaréjoles. On a volcanic rock path descend to the Ciamp de Grévena pasture and then, through a ridge covered in dense alders, to the Ruf de Duron stream. Beyond the bridge turn right onto the mostly flat dirt road (path no. 532) which runs along the entire valley. Pass by the Baita da Lino Brach then reach the Micheluzzi Refuge. Descend towards Campitello along a dirt road characterized by steep ramps.
