Canazei - Passo Fedaia - Rocca Pietore - Caprile - Arabba - Passo Pordoi - Canazei
Classic route starting and ending in Canazei, tackling two of the most loved and feared Dolomite passes by cyclists: Fedaia and Pordoi.
<p>From Canazei, follow state road no. 641 (S.S. 641) which in 13.95 km leads to Passo Fedaia (average gradient 4.5%) with a spectacular view of the Marmolada. Descend to the town of Rocca Pietore, where you turn left onto state road no. 563 (S.S. 563). In a little over 10 km you reach the hamlet of Salesei (Livinallongo del Col di Lana), junction with state road no. 48 (S.S. 48). Turn left towards Arabba. From here in 9 km climb 640 m in elevation (average gradient 7.1%) to reach Passo Pordoi. Descending, you return to Canazei (average gradient 6.7% with stretches up to 10% and 27 hairpin bends).</p> <p>At Passo Pordoi, <strong>first stop at the monument dedicated to Fausto Coppi</strong>, which recalls the legendary feats of the "campionissimo". At the inauguration in July 2000, his daughter Marina, and Coppi’s three teammates Ettore Milano, Franco Giacchero, and Michele Gismondi were present. <strong>Second stop in front of Gilberto Simoni’s Wilier Triestina Cento1</strong>, embedded since 2011 in a monument of rock and metal. It is the same bicycle with which the Trentino rider entered the Verona Arena at the closing of his last Giro d’Italia in 2010.</p>
