On the tracks of an ancient swampy plain

A walk for everyone around the two banks of the Avisio, where Dolomite hikes that have entered the history of mountaineering start.

From Campitello, the first alpine tourist center in the valley, to Canazei, a gem for all mountain lovers, in summer and winter, you have the chance to enter the scenery of Marmolada, Sassolungo, and Sella, bringing along even the little ones. The walk is a gentle loop around the two banks of the Avisio, in an environment that once resembled a swampy plain. Canazei, in fact, derives from the Latin term cannacetum, meaning reed bed. Along the way, partly at the forest's edge, there are opportunities for rest and distraction. Around the Sorèghes plain, you will see paragliders and hang gliders landing, and near the start of the Col Rodella cable car, a sports area with climbing gym, playground, and refreshment point.
