#20) From Rifugio Achille Papa to Rifugio Vincenzo Lancia

A very short stage, very pleasant, of great historical importance and high emotional impact. Between the Italian Tooth and the Austrian Tooth, crossing the craters of bombs and mines, you can truly feel the tragedy of the war.

This stage offers the thrilling crossing of the Pasubio massif, a journey steeped in history and memory. Along the route, hikers encounter a series of emblematic places that testify to the heroic past of this area.

It starts in the evocative monumental area, where the imposing Roman Arch and a touching commemorative Chapel rise, built after the war to honor the fallen. Moving towards Selletta Comando, you are immersed in a landscape dotted with numerous remains of trenches, walkways and military positions, recalling the hard battles fought in this "sacred zone".

In recent years, significant recovery and conservation efforts have been made, with the installation of numerous explanatory panels that offer valuable information about the history and events that took place in this area.

The path continues along the ridge, leading us from Cima Palon to the Italian Tooth, a peak that in 1918 was tragically destroyed by a mining explosion. Through the Austrian Tooth to Roite, every step brings us closer to the heart of the history of this place.

Finally, from the suggestive Bocchetta delle Corde, at the foot of the majestic Mount Testo, the path gently leads us to Rifugio Lancia, located at 1,802 meters altitude, where we can refresh ourselves and rest, while the voices of the past continue to whisper among the surrounding peaks.
