#18) From Mario Fraccaroli Refuge to Passo Pian delle Fugazze (Malga Boffetàl variant)

Predominantly downhill stage, leaving the Carega Group and approaching the Pasubio. The passage at the foot of the Sengio Alto Group is beautiful, part of the Chain of the Little Dolomites distinguished by the Cornetto tower (it is also possible to hike the spectacular ridge, for a more technical and challenging variant).

Descending from Carega, the landscape remains that of the harsh and rocky high mountain. Hard stones with some low bushes accompany the path along the ridges of the surrounding mountain groups, remaining at about 2000 meters above sea level, and the view is lost among the sharp peaks all around. You gradually descend toward more wooded and forested areas, until reaching the Campogrosso refuge located in a large grassy area at 1450 meters above sea level. After a break at the refuge, continue through the meadows to the Malga Boffetàl variant, which gently descends towards the beech woods of the Passo Pian delle Fugazze.

Here, among the natural wonders of the mountains, there is the majestic Pasubio Ossuary, a monument that commemorates the heroic soldiers fallen during the First World War; next to the ossuary stands an interesting historical museum dedicated to the First Army and its valiant commander, Pecori Giraldi. Through its exhibits, it is possible to immerse yourself in history and understand the crucial role this region played during those tumultuous years.

This itinerary not only offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Pasubio mountains but also to learn about and appreciate the history and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in these rugged lands.
