Museo Casa De Gasperi
Alcide De Gasperi was born in this house on 3 April 1881.
He died 73 years later a few kilometres from here in the Sella Valley having played a leading role in some of the most important events in 20th century European history.
This small museum was created with a view to preserving the memory of De Gasperi's work and transferring experience, values and messages from one generation to the next and is testimony to the statesman's unsevered roots and links with this part of Trentino.
It is testimony to a De Gasperi who went from being a citizen of the Habsburg Empire to being an Italian and a European, although always remaining a native of Trentino, and demonstrates the constant interaction between his personal history and the history of politics and institutions that he helped to determine.
It is a museum inspired by the spirit evoked by De Gasperi himself who once said: "The purpose of states in the future will be to increase and strengthen instruments such as art museums, technical museums, libraries that link one generation to another... An ideal state will be reached when experiences and results obtained can be transferred from one generation to the next."
