MAG - Museo Alto Garda - Riva del Garda Museum
Inside the medieval castle of Rocca di Riva, on the shores of the lake, MAG is home to collections of archaeology and art, hosting cultural events and exhibits.
The imposing Rocca di Riva, an ancient medieval castle in Riva del Garda, contains the MAG – Museo dell’Alto Garda. It offers dedicated spaces for temporary exhibits, the Invento workshop itinerary for younger visitors and families, and three permanent sections devoted to the Art Gallery, Archaeology and History. In the Art Gallery, you can admire landscapes painted by 19th-century artists inspired by the beauty of Lake Garda, with works by artists such as Pietro Ricchi, Vincenzo Vela and Francesco Hayez. The Archaeology section houses Copper Age statues, remnants of the pile-dwelling civilisation of Lake Ledro, objects from pre-Roman and Roman culture and epigraphs and artefacts found in the Alto Garda area.
