Casa Caveau Vino Santo
Indulge all five senses on a journey of discovery into one of Trentino’s most prized wines. This historic drying cellar, now restored and reborn, is full of surprises.
Restoration works on this ancient drying cellar, located in Padergnone’s Piazza del Mercato, have transformed it into the experiential and evocative Casa Caveau Vino Santo wine museum. Voices, sounds, images, scents and tastes reveal the history of this most highly prized straw wine. Multi-media installations illustrate the tale of this marvellous wine, which was produced as early as 1800 in the Rigotti fruit cellar. In the past, this structure held up to 50,000 kilograms of grapes spread out on "arele": trellises of mesh and reeds for drying fruit. Today, Casa Caveau Vino Santo is managed by the Valle dei Laghi Ecomuseum in collaboration with the Trento APT (tourist board), the Associazione Vignaioli del Vino Santo Trentino and the Cantina di Toblino winery.
