Town festival in Mazzin
Celebration of the Holy Mass in the small church of the hamlet, dedicated to the St. Mary Magdalene. Following, the performance of the music band "Mùsega Auta Fascia" in the square in front of the building
Mazzin, with its hamlets of Campestrin and Fontanazzo, has around 500 inhabitants. Situated at the valley's narrowest point, the view takes in the high walls of the Catinaccio d'Antermoia, the Sella group to the east, Cima Dodici to the south, and Col Bel opposite. It was once a land of mills, as well as being known as a village of painters and decorators who emigrated seasonally in search of fortune. Driving up the Strada delle Dolomiti (Dolomites Road) from Pera, the church of Santa Maria Maddalena Penitente (St Mary Magdalene the Penitent) appears on the right immediately after the sharp bend that skirts the first houses of the village. The building, erected in 1573, has a single nave, a pyramidal spire bell tower, a Gothic apse and a baroque altar.
