A via ferrata - A great family affair
A fun, adrenaline-fuelled experience with your children
If you are looking for an extraordinary new adventure that can make your family-friendly holidays in Trentino unforgettable, you can try the thrill of doing a via ferrata with your children. We suggest you start with the Colodri ferrata, one of the easiest in Trentino, which is ideal for familiarising yourself, together with your young explorers, with rock climbing and high altitudes. You can start from Prabi in Arco.
And for the “first times”, we would advise you to hire an Alpine guide, who will accompany you on your excursion, thus ensuring that all your family has fun and climbs in complete safety.

Climbing equipment
Put on your via ferrata kit, consisting of a special climbing harness, two carabiners and an energy absorber, and put on your own helmet and put helmets on your children too before you approach the steel cable that runs along the rock.

The via ferrata
A slight slope will take you to a zigzag path ending with a flat stretch, from where you have a fantastic view. Continue to the left and friction climb on easy rocks until you reach an equipped slab.
You have now covered more than half the climbing route, which you have tackled without any problems or any particular difficulty. Now you just have to do the last vertical section that is equipped with metal rungs, pegs and a rope.
Only a few metres of rope to go and you’ve done it! A magnificent view of the Sarca Valley opens up here and, in the distance, you can also admire Lake Garda. The cross at the top of Monte Colodri is just a few minutes’ walk from you.

You did it: you're on the top!
The descent
Downhill you can follow a path that crosses the woods, up to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Laghel. From here, you walk along on an asphalt road, featuring shrines of the stations of the Cross and an olive grove. Walk towards the latter and you will return to Arco.
The thrill of reaching the top and sharing this fun experience with your children!
