Castles, forts and observation points: all you need is a mountain bike, a flask of water and a bit of training.

These aren’t difficult itineraries as we are aware that, after a long winter, bikers may be out of shape and need to warm up first, so we’ve chosen 7 tracks that are suitable for everyone and guaranteed to help you get the most from your mountain bike this spring.

Cycling on the Vigolana Plateau

A suggestive itinerary for mountain biking that connects the main historical and environmental landscape areas of the Vigolana Plateau and the Centa Valley. The loop circuit is built mostly on dirt roads and is the sum of a series of shorter routes, particularly suitable for families and practicable with a handcycle.

A short route with a wide panorama

This is the shortest track of those recommended here. It’s a circle route which can be completed in less than an hour and offers a fantastic view across the Adige valley which will make you want to stop and take some pictures. You take off from Fai della Paganella, half an hour from Trento.

A fort with a view!

During World War I there was an impregnable fort that dominated the Valsugana valley. Today, with an hour’s worth of pedalling you can take a break below its walls and enjoy a fantastic view across the lakes of Caldonazzo and Levico. Priceless!

Apple orchards and castles

The fourth track will bring you to the Val di Non, for a relaxing ride along country roads and cycleways meandering through farmland, apple orchards and castles. The main stop is Castel Cles where you can take a break and admire the lake of Santa Giustina from above.

On the summit of mount Vignola

This is an extremely easy track and suitable for the entire family. You take off from the Polsa campsite, within the Monte Baldo Park, and pedal your way through blooming meadows and along mountain pathstowards the summit of mount Vignola and a bird’s eye view of the Vallagarina.

Cavedine – Tour

A loop tour that runs along the edge of Marocche and gently abuts Lake Cavedine. There is no shortage of climbs that will satisfy even the most sporty cyclists. To start, you go up to Drena, where you are welcomed from afar by the imposing Castel Drena, then you find continuous ups and downs and changes in terrain across the entire Cavedine Valley. In total you cover just under 33 kilometres and 900 metres of altitude drop.

Hike & Bike

A short distance from Trento, on the Altopiano di Piné, you will find the Serraia and Delle Piazze lakes, two bodies of water from which a network of dirt tracks and mountain bike trails branch off, totalling over 200 km of routes. These circuits vary in length and difficulty, passing through breathtaking vantage points and places of cultural and natural interest. Why not try them this spring?
