Pozza di Fassa - Tesero - Passo Pampeago - Ponte Nova - Passo Costalunga/Carezza - Pozza di Fassa
Latemar circuit that allows crossing from the Avisio, Fassa, and Fiemme valleys into South Tyrol. After passing Val di Stava, the Passo Pampeago is reached at an altitude of 1,983 m, closed to car traffic.
Starting from Pozza/Pera, follow state road no. 48 (S.S. 48) heading south, crossing the Fassa and Fiemme valleys to Tesero (possible detour on a paved cycle-pedestrian path). Leaving the village, known for handcrafted wooden nativity scenes, the challenging climb begins along provincial road no. 215 (S.P. 215) towards Stava and Passo Pampeago: 10.5 km with an elevation gain of over 1,000 m, with average gradients of 9.7%. The last four kilometers, which entered the history of the Giro d'Italia in 1998 with Pavel Tonkov's victory over Pantani and that of the "Pirate" the following year, offer great efforts with sections over 15%. The descent, passing through Obereggen, down to Ponte Nova (S.S. 620) is no less demanding: 13.9 km with an average gradient of 7.6% and peaks approaching 14.5%. Upon reaching the junction, turn right. Climb state road no. 241 (S.S. 241) towards Nova Levante (4 km) and Lake Carezza (10 km), until reaching Passo Costalunga (14 km). A further 10 km (average gradient 4.4%) separate the Dolomite pass from Vigo and Pozza di Fassa.
