LAKE LEVICO IS A BRIGHTER SHADE OF BLUE
This lovely stretch of water in the Valsugana has in the last few days been honoured with the «Blue Flag» for its efforts in promoting sustainable tourism.
It is the only lake in Trentino to have been awarded a «Blue Flag» by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), an acknowledgement of the quality of the bathing water and the facilities provided on the beaches, in the resorts and in the nearby town.
Lake Levico is the second largest lake in the Valsugana after Caldonazzo, and in summer numerous tourists flock here from all over Europe, the destination of choice for a relaxing holiday, for doing a range of water sports, taking pleasant walks - such as the delightful Via dei Pescatori - cycling along the Valsugana cycle path, which you can now also do on one of the new e-bikes of the European "movelo" network.
Nestling in the mountains like a little Norwegian fjord, Lake Levico has two fully-equipped bathing resorts, a large, tree-shaded public beach, and rowing boat and electric boat hire. The numerous fish species that live in the water also make it a great spot for fishing.
In nearby Levico Terme, famous for its arsenical ferruginous spa waters, rare in Europe and the only one of its kind in Italy, visitors can explore the old town centre with its typical nooks and crannies, and the vast Parco delle Terme laid out during the period of Habsburg rule.
