Rifugio Vioz Mantova
The Vioz Mantua refuge is the highest refuge in the Eastern Alps.
It is located on a small rocky plain at an altitude of 3535 metres, at the foot of the ridge that leads to the panoramic summit of Mount Vioz, within the Stelvio National Park in the Ortles Cevedale group in the upper Val di Peio. When the tired feet after the long walk lean on this small plane, you feel a great peace and the gaze can look at the sky closely and a wonderful landscape that ranges from Brenta to Presanella to Adamello, from S. Matteo to Tresero, from Bernina to Rosa from the great Zebrù to Ortles to Cevedale, to finish the Dolomites. The Rifugio Vioz has fifty-seven places in rooms from two to nine beds and seventy places at the table where typical Trentino dishes are offered, from barley soup to canederli, from stew to cheese melted with polenta, salted meat with beans, typical dishes with cold cuts and local cheeses. To supplement the calories lost during the climb, nion also lacks a slice of strudel or sacher.
