Twelve Gates
For the Val di Fassa Panorama Music festival, at the Agritur El Mas in Moena, the quartet of highly experienced musicians performs the songs of Rev. Gary Davis in a more modern form, in a jazz key, and less tied to the author's original interpretation
The name is freely inspired by the title of the song "Twelve Gates To The City" by the Reverend Gary Davis (1896-1972), a country-blues composer, singer and guitarist, master of finger picking and one of the most influential musicians rediscovered in the early 1960s during the American folk revival. The intention of the "Twelve Gates" project is to bring us some of his most significant songs, clearing lyrics and melodies with a modern sound. The quartet consists of: Charlie Cinelli, a singer-songwriter and bass player from Brescia of the absolute rock school; Pietro Tonolo, one of the best-known European jazz saxophonists; Giancarlo Bianchetti, a guitarist active among others with Capossela, Gianmaria Testa, or jazz musicians such as Steve Grossmann and Tony Scott; Giovanni Giorgi, a drummer whose collaborations range from John Patitucci to Roberto Vecchioni, from Giorgia to Giovanni Sollima.
The concert is free. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place inside the farmhouse.
