Through the eyes of a photographer
Nature photographer Marco Mazzel from Canazei talks about his personal exhibition on the flora, fauna and landscape of the Dolomites
Hours of silence, long and patient waits, breaths held so as not to disturb a movement, a rustle, a rare passing. Marco Mazzel, born in 1980, a nature photographer from Canazei, takes us on an intimate journey into the most secret and wild side of the Dolomites. His images, videos and photographs are not simple shots, but fragments of encounters: a fox brushing the snow at dawn, the sudden flight of a capercaillie, the ephemeral flowering of a martagon lily among the rocks. Each shot is the result of long periods of waiting, in total camouflage, even in extreme conditions, guided only by his profound knowledge of the territory and his infallible powers of observation. The exhibition offers a respectful and attentive gaze, made up of details invisible to those who pass by quickly: the rustling of leaves, the echo of walls, the eye trained to catch a trace, a presence. It is a nature that does not give itself easily, but which knows how to reveal itself with grace to those who possess the rare gift of patience.
Schedule and meeting point: every Monday at 3 p.m. at the El Zedron bar and restaurant. Starting from Buffaure (from Pozza with the gondola), the mountain hut can be reached by chairlift or with an uphill walk of about 1.15 hours. Activity suitable for children of at least 3 years of age. Difficulty level: medium; no buggies. Comfortable clothing and sports shoes are recommended.
Price: limited enrolment free activity, organised by "Funivie Buffaure" lift company, in the Panorama Pass, the Dolomiti Supersummer pass or with a valid lift ticket. Lift ticket borns by the participants. Compulsory registration online within 6 p.m. of the previous day.
