Sunday September 7th: excursion to the San Giuliano Lakes with Elisa Palazzi, climatologist and professor of Climate Physics at the University of Turin
Elisa Palazzi is a climatologist and researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (ISAC) of the National Research Council (CNR) and an associate professor of Climate Physics at the University of Turin. Her research focuses on the study of climate in mountain regions and the state of glaciers. She conducts science communication activities with workshops on climate, energy, and environment, conferences, and seminars in collaboration with associations that promote and communicate scientific culture, in addition to participating in numerous national and European projects. She is the co-author, along with Federico Taddia, of the children’s book Why Does the Earth Have a Fever? (2019) and the podcast Beautiful World.
Route description: a spectacular ring route that takes us along the shores of three stunning alpine lakes. From the parking lot, the trail steeply ascends towards Lake Vacarsa. Upon reaching Bochet de l'Acqua Fredda, a constant descent leads us to the lakes of Garzonè and San Giuliano, where the characteristic refuge is located. The return trail runs along the southern slope of Val Genova, offering an unusual view of the Nardis waterfalls.
